Thursday, 30 July 2020

The LAF Commander in Chief General Joseph Aoun visited the Military Academy this morning, where he met with the third year cadets who will graduate on the first of August concurrently with the 75th Anniversary of the Army Day, in the presence of the Academy commander and officers.
General Aoun expressed his pride in the cadets who are graduating as part of this course and the excellent results they achieved in terms of training. He addressed the students: “When you joined the Military Academy three years ago, you represented a challenge for us, as each one of you passed the entrance exam based on his competence and merit without asking for favors from any party.”
General Aoun added: "The rank that you will receive on the Army Day is a major responsibility that requires major sacrifice from your part, as well as self-denial, and loyalty. Exceptional circumstances compel the officers to take exceptional decisions, and military life by its nature is full of challenges. Therefore, you must adapt to the new reality and look ahead to achieve the desired goals."
General Aoun continued: "There are many challenges awaiting you, such as fighting the spread of Coronavirus, maintaining peace and security during popular demonstrations, the economic crisis and the cost of living. The army is operating under high pressure with the road ahead filled with difficulties. The living situation will not affect our morale, and our primary mission will remain in the field of protecting our country and people. We will not be dragged by provocations, and we will remain firmly convinced with our beliefs."
General Aoun urged the military to abstain from meddling in politics and sectarian issues. He indicated that the Lebanese people has complete confidence in the military institution which will honor this trust.
General Aoun concluded his speech by congratulating the graduates and wishing them all the success.
