Warning Against Scanning QR Codes and Accessing Links on Leaflets Dropped by an Israeli Aircraft over the City of Beirut

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

In light of the Israeli attacks on various Lebanese regions, an Israeli aircraft dropped paper leaflets over the city of Beirut containing QR codes. These codes link to a WhatsApp application and a Facebook platform account intended to communicate with the Human Intelligence Unit “Unit 504” of the Israeli Army, which is responsible for recruiting agents.

The Army Command warns citizens of the danger of scanning these codes or accessing these links, as doing so may entail legal responsibility and pose a security risk, in addition to the possibility of mobile phones being compromised and personal data accessed.
