Ceremony for receiving a donation from the Greek Authorities to the Army

On January 15, 2026, a ceremony was held at the Port of Beirut to receive a grant provided by the Greek authorities to the Army. The event was attended by Minister of National Defense Major General Michel Menassa, Greek Ambassador to Lebanon Despina A. Koukoulopoulou, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics heading a delegation from the Army Command, in addition to several officers.

The donation included 13 M113 armored personnel carriers and 10 vehicles along with their spare parts.

During the ceremony, the Minister of National Defense delivered a speech in which he expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Greek authorities for this donation, which will contribute to supporting the Army in carrying out its missions across all Lebanese territory.

The Greek Ambassador also delivered a speech highlighting the close relationship between the Greek authorities and the Army, aimed at ensuring regional stability. She further reaffirmed her country’s continued support for the military institution to enable it to implement international resolutions.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Brigadier General Amin Al Qai, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, presented a letter of appreciation on behalf of the Army Commander-in-Chief, General Rodolph Haykal, to Ambassador Koukoulopoulou, commending the role of the Greek authorities in supporting the Army during the current phase.
