Raids and Arrests in the Areas of Jwar Al Hachich, Alfon, and Al Hmaira – Hermel and Baalbek, and Seizure of Two Drug-Manufacturing Laboratories

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

As part of the security measures carried out by the military institution to combat drug trafficking, an army unit conducted a raid in the Jwar Al Hachich area – Hermel, where it seized a laboratory used for drugs manufacturing along with a quantity of narcotics.

Other units also arrested two individuals as follows:

• The Lebanese national (S.T.) in the Iaat area – Baalbek, who is wanted under a large number of arrest warrants for shooting at an army patrol. A military handgun was seized in his possession.
• The Syrian national (H.A.) at the Al Siffri checkpoint – Baalbek, for possessing counterfeit currency and for being in the country illegally.

In addition, the Intelligence Directorate carried out raids in the Alfon and Al Hmaira areas – Hermel, and seized a drug-manufacturing laboratory, as well as a large quantity of Captagon pills and the raw materials used in their production.

The seized items were handed over, and the investigation with the detainees was initiated under the supervision of the competent judicial authority.
