Sunday, 07 June 2026

The Army Command and the residents of Beirut bid farewell to General martyr Wissam Sabra, who was martyred on 6 June 2026 as a result of an Israeli airstrike targeting him on the Khardali–Kfartebnit road (Nabatieh).

In the presence of Acting Army Commander-in-Chief Major General Hassan Audi, the funeral procession commenced in front of the Central Military Hospital, where the Military Police and the Army Band rendered the appropriate honors and ceremonial tribute. The martyr was posthumously awarded the War Medal, the Wounded Medal, and the Silver Military Appreciation Medal.

The body was then transferred to Al Khachogji Mosque in Beirut, where the funeral service was held in the presence of the representative of the Minister of National Defense, Major General Michel Menassa, and Acting Army Commander-in-Chief Major General Hassan Audi, who delivered a speech stating:

"Our martyr, General Sabra, we knew you as a man of difficult missions, distinguished by discipline and exemplary conduct, renowned for your integrity, honesty, and noble character, always present wherever duty called."

He added: "Our comrade-in-arms, General Sabra, concluded his military career as he began it: loyal to Lebanon and to the military institution, steadfast in the face of danger. His martyrdom was the result of a treacherous and brutal Israeli aggression targeting our land and our people."
