APPOINTMENT OF BRIGADIER GENERAL P.S.C MAHMOUD EL-ASMAR AS MEMBER OF THE HIGHER DEFENSE COMMITTEE AND PROMOTING HIM TO THE RANK OF MAJOR GENERAL

Based on decree 4421 issued on 22/3/2019, Brigadier General P.S.C Mahmoud el-Asmar was appointed as member of the Higher Defense Committee and based on decree 4522 issued on 4/4/2019 he was promoted to the rank of Major General P.S.C

The following information offer a brief summary of his life and career:
 

• Born in Majdala - Akkar on 20/2/1963
• Joined the LAF as a Cadet Officer on 9/1/1984
• Graduated from the Military Academy as a Lieutenant starting 1/8/1986 and rose through the ranks to reach the rank of Major General starting 4/4/2019.
• Holds a university degree in military sciences, a degree in Business, a degree in Strategic and Diplomatic studies and masters French and English.
• Followed several training courses in Lebanon and abroad. He followed a National Defense Course in the Arab Republic of Egypt, a Security agency Investigation course at the Russian Federation.
• He occupied several positions: Officer at the North region Intelligence branch, Head of the Security Office in Halba – Akkar, Head of the Investigation Section in the North Intelligence Branch, Head of the Security Office in el-Minieh – el-Donniyeh, Officer of the fourth section – 10th Infantry Brigade, Company Commander in the 11th Infantry Brigade, officer at Mount Lebanon Directorate of Intelligence, head of two branches and commander of a service and command company at the 2nd Infantry Brigade, Head of the first section in the 11th Infantry Brigade, head of the Military Security Branch at the Directorate of Intelligence.
• He received the following medals and decorations: Medal of War (3 times)- Medal of the South Dawn- Medal of National Unity- Military Valor Medal – Silver grade- National Order of the Cedar – Officer- Lebanese Order of Merit –2nd and 3rd grade- Conference Commemorative Medal 2002- Military Valor Medal – Silver grade- Counter Terrorism Medal.
• Received Congratulations and commendations of the LAF Commander on several occasions
• Married with Judge Rania el-Asmar and father of two children: Ziad and Reem.
