Launch of the “Special Forces Training Center” project in Cheikh Taba – Akkar

The LAF Commander General Joseph Aoun headed the launch of the “Special Forces Training Center” project in Cheikh Taba – Akkar thanks to a funding provided by Bank Audi in the presence of the Chairman of the Board – General Manager and Group Chief Executive Officer at Bank Audi Mr. Samir N. Hanna in addition to official figures and a number of senior officers.

The ceremony started with the national anthem and the unveiling of a commemorative monument. Afterwards, the Special Forces School Commander delivered a speech in which he shed light on the importance of the center in training elite units. He expressed his gratitude to Bank Audi for the initiative of funding the establishment of the center and for its complete cooperation with the Military Institution.

In his turn, the LAF Commander General Joseph Aoun delivered a speech in which he said “where financial policies adopted by consecutive Cabinets failed to allocate the share that the Armed Forces need from the state budget due to a cumulative economic deficit, our firm will and the strong belief in our mission remains the weapon that we hold in the face of the challenges, regardless of the high risks it involves. The process of building a modern and sophisticated Army is not limited to armament and involves training activities which are equally important, if not more important at times, particularly in terms of conducting military missions where the use of elite units is a must.”

General Aoun added that “our presence here in Akkar is not strictly limited to launch the Special Forces Training Center project. It is also a new message of peace that the Lebanese people is sending to the Institution that guarantees Lebanese sovereignty through Bank Audi.

This center also represents a message delivered by the LAF Command to the Special Forces troops to voice its conclusive decision of making a qualitative progress in terms of training by providing the necessary space and facilities and delivering state of the art equipment used by the most developed militaries around the world.

Mr. Samir Hanna expressed that Bank Audi is honored to assist and provide support to the LAF considering that this institution serves as the guarantee for other state institutions and civil peace.

A Brief documentary highlighted the activities of the center and a lunch party was held at the end of the ceremony.
