Arrest of 5 Citizens and 2 Syrians in Tripoli, Hermel, and Brital in the frame of security measures conducted by the Intelligence Directorate

The Lebanese Army Command- Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
On March 14, 2024, the Intelligence Directorate, as part of its ongoing security operations in various areas, arrested 5 Lebanese and 2 Syrian for the following reasons:
•    The citizens (J.Y.) and (M.Y.) and the Syrians (AA.KH.) and (M.KH.) were arrested in Brital for their involvement in forming a car theft and armed robbery gang and opening fire on an Army patrol.
•    The citizen (N.N.) was arrested in Tripoli for stabbing the Syrian (S.H.) with a knife on July 22, 2021, resulting in his death. The arrested individual was also involved in drug trafficking.
•    The citizen (A.D.) was arrested in Wadi Bneit - Hermel. He was wanted for several arrest warrants such as shooting at a citizen, armed robbery, kidnapping, and arms trafficking. A quantity of ammunition, military equipment, and communication devices were found inside his residence.
•    The citizen (M.G.) was arrested in Ras Al Mal - Hermel for stealing cars from Lebanon and transporting them to Syria. He was also involved in drug trafficking and the theft of cables and electrical transformers.
The confiscated items were handed over, and the investigation was initiated with the arrestees under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.
