Dismantling Iron Cranes and removing them from the Raouf H Ship

Thursday, 17 September 2020

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

Units of the Independent Work Regiment, in cooperation with a group of the Engineering Regiment and Members of the Civil Defense, managed to dismantle and remove huge iron cranes. They fell on the Raouf H ship, as a result of the port blast. The ship was loaded with 5,000 tons of wheat, and anchored on Berth No. 8 near the site of the blast.

The removal of the iron cranes came due to the danger resulting from their remaining in place and the possibility of wheat decomposition due to natural factors, which may lead to the emission of toxic and dangerous gases. LAF coordinated with the concerned parties to handle the ship's cargo.
