Handover ceremony of a donation offered by the British authorities to LAF

The Army Command - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

The Port of Beirut hosted the handover ceremony of 100 Land Rover RWMIK lightly armored patrol vehicles offered as a donation from the British authorities to LAF.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief of Staff for Equipment Brigadier General P.S.C Ziad Nasr representing LAF Commander in chief General Joseph Aoun and the Chief of mission and charge Affairs to the British Embassy in Beirut Mr. Martin Longden.

Brigadier General P.S.C Nasr thanked the British authorities on behalf of LAF Commander in chief for their continued support, noting that the vehicles will be distributed to the Land Borders Regiments to carry out reconnaissance and security missions. He also hoped that aid continue despite the difficult economic circumstances that affect everyone.

For his part, the Chief of mission and charge Affairs to the British Embassy in Beirut expressed his pleasure to attend the ceremony of offering 100 Land Rover RWMIK lightly armored patrol vehicles, and he noted that Britain had previously allocated more than a hundred million dollars to help build watchtowers and to train Land Border Regiments.

He concluded: "Britain is proud to be a friend and a partner to Lebanon, and we look forward to pursuing this strategic partnership in the future."
