The LAF Commander held a meeting with the Army officers

The Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Jen Kahwagi held 2 meetings on 16 and 17/2/2017 with the Army Staff and the commanders of the largest military units. General Kahwagi brought forward the International and local situation and affairs related to the Military Institution. He gave his instructions with regard to the missions of the units in the coming stage, mainly defending the country against the Israeli enemy threats, fighting terrorism and preserving the path of peace and stability in the country.

General Kahwagi noted that the election of General Michel Aoun as President of the Republic and the formation of a government as well as resuming the legislative work in the Parliament were major factors that boosted stability in the country. He added that the Army is investing extreme efforts at the security level to keep up with the path of the presidency and to achieve its aspirations especially with regard to ensuring security during the upcoming parliamentary elections.

As for the situation of the Army, General Kahwagi confirmed that the Army command is committed in boosting the military capabilities in terms of weapons, ammunition, equipment, qualitative training in cooperation with friend countries particularly after the Military Institution achieved important and conclusive feats   in fighting terrorism and its sabotage networks.

Furthermore, concerning the issue of the army troops abducted by the terrorist organizations, General Kahwagi stressed that the Army will be following up this issue to the end with the competent authorities and added that no efforts will be spared with the aim of uncovering their fate and their return to their families and Military Institution
