Meeting of the Lebanese Army Commander with the Higher Supervisory Committee on the assistance program for land borders protection

A meeting with the Higher Supervisory Committee on the assistance program for land borders protection was chaired by the Lebanese Army Commander in Chief General Joseph Aoun in Yarzeh, in the presence of the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Mrs. Dorothy SHEA, the British Ambassador to Lebanon Mr. Hamish COWELL, the Canadian Ambassador to Lebanon Mrs. Stefanie McCollum, and the members of the joint working group.
The ambassadors praised the performance of the Lebanese Army units in controlling the borders through combating smuggling activities, and their active role in confronting terrorist organizations to preserve the country's security, affirming their country's commitment to continue supporting the military institution to strengthen its capabilities, especially with regard to border monitoring and control.
For his part, General Aoun thanked the US, British and Canadian authorities for their continuous support to the army, as their role is fundamental in improving the capabilities of military units to enable them to carry out their missions.
