Raids and freeing of a kidnapped individual in Hay Al Charawneh – Baalbek

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

On 30/07/2022, as a part of monitoring the wanted (M.J.) who kidnapped along with a group of people the Syrian (B.T.), an army unit supported by a patrol of the Intelligence Directorate carried out a raid in Hay Al Charawneh – Baalbek. During the raid the army unit came under fire so it returned fire causing the death of the Syrian (AA.AA.) and the injury of the citizen (AA.J.) among the shooters.

Then, the aforementioned unit raided the residence of the wanted individual and arrested the citizen (J.T.) and the Syrians (AA.A.) and (Y.H.). The Intelligence patrol was able to release the kidnapped individual.

A quantity of raw materials and equipment used in the manufacture of drugs, 5 cars, 6 firearms, a handgun, an amount of ammunition and monitoring devices were seized in their possession. Moreover, around 3,000 square meters of cultivated Hashish were destroyed.

The arrestees and the seized items were turned in to the competent judicial authorities.
