Tripartite meeting in Ras el Naqoura

The Army Headquarters - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement: 

On 9.30 at 20/06/2017, a tripartite meeting was held in Ras el Naqoura, presided by the UNIFIL Commander Major General Michael Beary and with the presence of a delegation from LAF Officers headed by the coordinator of the Lebanese Government Brigadier General P.S.C Mohammad Janbay. Discussions focused on the implementation of resolution 1701 as well as the recent incidents in the South of Litani.

The Lebanese delegation focused on the Israeli trespasses in air, on land and at sea and demanded their immediate cessation. The Lebanese side also demanded the withdrawal of the enemy from the North of Ghajar and demanded that every assault executed by the Israeli enemy through entering north of Ghajar should be considered as a trespass of the blue line and called upon not to consider this occupation as a routine occurrence. Moreover, the Lebanese side recalled the unsolved issues that prevent the transfer from a state of cessation of hostilities to a permanent state of ceasefire are: Chebaa farms, North Ghajar, the reserve zones, spying towers erected at the borders and the trespasses in air, on land and at sea.

Furthermore, General Michael Beary stressed the importance of committing to the arrangements of coordination and liaison and confirmed that preserving stability is the responsibility of both sides and that the UNIFIL is ready to assist them in this process.
