Visitors of General Jean Kahwagi
The LAF Commander General Jean Kahwagi received in his office in Yarzeh this morning the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the United States Senate Senator Bob Corker and the accompanying delegation in the presence of the United States Ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard. Talks during the visit focused on the general situation in Lebanon and the region and the United States Aid program to the Lebanese Army as well as the means to further boost this aid in the coming stage. General Kahwagi praised the exceptional role undertaken by the United States authorities in providing qualitative assistance to the Lebanese Army with the aim of fighting terrorism, keeping peace and stability and defending Lebanese borders. General Kahwagi also expressed his appreciation to Senator Corker and Ambassador Richard for their personal interest in the continuation of this aid.
In his turn, Senator Corker expressed his great admiration with the achievements of the Lebanese Army and its distinguished combat capabilities and confirmed the will of his country’s authorities to boost the partnership between both sides and to continue with strengthening the Lebanese Army’s capabilities in order to assist its efforts in the fight against terrorism and to preserve Lebanon’s unity and stability.
Following the meeting, the United States delegation visited the region of Ersal, took a tour in the army outposts and inspected their situation and needs.
